Cookson 50 - Racer / Cruiser Deluxe

Image50 foot Racer/Cruiser with Canting Keel and Trim Tab Specification

1 STRUCTURE
  
1.1 Hull Construction
Hull is constructed in female mould.
Construction is Carbon Fibre with Closed Cell Foam Core.
Laminates are infused with epoxy resin, consolidated under vacuum and heat cured.

1.2 Internal Structure
Bulkheads, structural frames and longitudinals are constructed from Carbon/E-glass laminates with closed cell foam core.
Reinforcing in high load areas with carbon laminates.

1.3 Deck Construction
Deck is constructed in female mould.
Construction is Carbon Fibre with Closed Cell Foam Core.
End Grain Balsa Core is used in areas of high compression load.
Resin infused with epoxy.

2 KEEL 
         
2.1 Keel Fin
Fabricated Steel Keel Fin bonded in to fibreglass mouldings.
Optional: Draft increase to 3.28/3.5m.
    
2.2 Keel Bulb
Lead bulb.
         
2.3 Trim Tab
Trim Tab on trailing edge of keel fin is driven by a hydraulic ram.
 
2.4 Cant Operation and Controls
Keel is canted using hydraulic pump driven off the main engine.
Single keel ram.
Operating controls for both canting keel and trim tab are located on each steering pedestal. 
         
2.1 Keel Fin

3 PAINTWORK & FINISHES
       
3.1 Deck Finish
Deck painted with two pack polyurethane paint.
Working surfaces finished with non-skid.

3.2 Topside Finish
Topsides painted with two pack polyurethane paint.

3.3 Hull Bottom
Hull bottom finished with epoxy undercoat if dry sailed, or prepared for antifouling.

3.4 Interior Finish
Interior is painted aft of forward double cabin and forward of Aft bulkhead with two pack semigloss paint.

4 INTERIOR FITOUT

4.1 Accommodation
Forward Cabin includes double berth with removable bunk tops for storage.
Forward cabin divider is carbon composite which is removable.
Hanging locker and cubby lockers for storage.
Single Bunks aft on Port and Starboard.
Aft portside has hanging locker and gear storage lockers.
Master Cabin (Portside) with double berth equipped with gear storage lockers and  hanging locker.
Double berth aft on starboard side.   
Optional Pipecots installed in main saloon area.

4.2 Saloon
Settee berth to port and L shaped settee berth to starboard with storage under cushions.
Concealed inspection port for hydraulic keel ram.
Seat backs have removable panels for access to storage.
Dining table with clear coat carbon finish.
         
4.3 Heads/showers
Forward Head/Shower
Enclosed forward starboard head with lightweight marine toilet.
Moulded vanity with wash basin and cupboard below.
Lockers above vanity for storage.
Mixer tap for pressurised water.
Shower facilities.
Opening hatch for ventilation.
Aft Head/Shower
Enclosed Head and Shower adjoining master cabin.
Entry by main saloon door or master cabin.
Moulded vanity with wash basin and cupboard below.
Cupboards above vanity with sliding composite doors.
Portlight for ventilation.
Mixer tap for cols and hot pressurised water.

4.4 Galley
Large L shaped galley with carbon finished bench tops is equipped with two burner gas stove, grill and oven.
Cupboard under stove for storage.
Double stainless steel sinks, mixer taps for pressurised water.
Two fridge/freezer units, top loading with carbon lids.
Overhead cabinet for food storage or galley equipment with sliding panel doors.
Three draws and cupboard below sinks for storage. 
           
4.5 Navigation and Chart Table
Navigation seat and chart table area is situated in master cabin.
Chart table is finished in clear carbon and has a hinged lid with storage below.
Cupboard underneath for storage.
Navigation panel mounted on port side customised to client’s requirements.

4.6 Upholstery
Cushions are made from 100mm foam.
Upholstery is covered in macrosuede or similar.
Zip lock covers using acrylic canvas for all gear storage lockers.
Optional: Composite solid locker doors.

5 EXTERIOR FITOUT

5.1 Winches
Primaries – 2 x B60 2STA
Mainsheet – 2 x B60 2STA
Halyard – 2 x B48 2STA
Backstay – 2 x B48 2STA
Five speed grip handles
Optional upgrade to 3STA or 3STHA

5.2 Deck Hardware
Mainsheet, Traveller system, Manual Cunningham, Outhaul System.
Jib car system with car pullers, Inhauler system.
Gennaker tack line system and Gennaker sheeting system.
Vang system.
Topmast system.

5.3 Deck Fittings
12 stainless steel stanchions.
Stainless steel pulpit and pushpits.
Double 1 x 19 wire lifelines with turnbuckles.
     
5.4 Deck Gear
Spinlock jammers on halyards, reef and control lines.

5.5 Deck Hatches
Custom Carbon/Eglass/Foam companionway hatch and washboard.
Forward Hatch – 620mm x 620mm
Forward Head Hatch
Cockpit hatches in lazarette – two 511mm x 511mm
Four cockpit portlights.
One portlight in aft head.

5.6 Helm Station
Twin lightweight carbon wheels on carbon pedestals.
Helmsman foot chocks.
Compasses mounted on cabin bulkhead either side of companionway.

6 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

6.1 Electrical System
Main switch board for service facilities and navigation equipment.
12 volt 20 way DC distribution panel and circuit breakers.
Engine start system  - 12V/80amp hour battery.
House Electrics – Two 12V/105amp hour batteries.
Emergency switch for crossover house battery to engine start battery.

6.2 Lighting
12 interior lights.
Flexible chart light in navigation station.
Bicolour nav light.
Stern nav light.
Windex mast light.
Steaming nav light.

7 ENGINEERING AND SYSTEMS

7.1 Engine
Engine box is situated aft of companionway stairs between aft berths.
Yanmar 4JH4-CE, 54hp diesel engine with saildrive unit – SD50.
Two bladed folding propeller.
Engine instrument panel including Tachometer and hour meter mounted in nav station.
Displays include temperature and oil pressure systems.
Throttle and gear control unit situated at helm station.
Remote Engine Start and Stop button are located on each steering pedestal.

7.2 Steering
Twin carbon wheels fitted to carbon pedestals, aluminium steering heads with vectran steering and carbon quadrant.
Emergency tiller

7.3 Diesel Tank
Vetus diesel tank
170 litres fuel capacity with shut off valve, water separator and deck fill cap.

7.4 Fresh Water System
Cold pressurised water.
Optional hot water runs off califont or engine heat exchanger.
Two 200 litre fresh water bladders

7.5 Black Water System
30 litre holding tank for toilet waste
         
 7.6 Pumps
Two manual bilge pumps

8 SAILING SYSTEMS

8.1 Canting Keel
Keel is canted with a hydraulic single ram using hydraulic pump driven off the main engine

8.2 Rudder
Rudder and rudder stock are constructed of Carbon Fibre
Rudder bearings are self aligning

8.3 Mast
Fractional carbon fibre rig
Two sets of alloy, black anodised, 20º swept back spreaders.
Windex with light, steaming light
Mast step, alloy rocking base plate with slots fore and aft for adjustment

8.4 Boom
Carbon boom with two internal reef lines complete with jammers located on inboard end

8.5 Bow Prod
Carbon retractable bow prod.

8.6 Rig Systems
Mechanical adjustable vang
4:1 Outhaul
